I needed a break from painting so a felt pen and colored pencils seemed like a easy sketch solution. A quick sketch of the ship channel at the end of the street along with the ubiquitous seagull, a visit with my friend Mary for a glass of wine while sketching her grandaughter Haisel and delicious tuna steaks from the big winning tournament tuna.

Hard to capture a fast moving 3 year old who was also critiquing my work.
Mary's son Jack was part of the crew that caught this monster 586 lb tournament winning tuna.

That seagull is so...the only word I can think of is "present." Immediate, tangible, you caught the personality. I hope you won't be offended if I say that I love your quick sketches and watercolors more than your formal paintings--you have a gift for capturing the essence of things so beautifully.
Always so pleased to see you've posted some work. Your paintings have a way of making me say, "Gosh, I want to paint that!" Or go there and see that. Your dogs and birds in oil are rich and textured, yet I've loved your watercolors, esp people, for years. Sigh. Keep sharing!
These are wonderful sketches - I love the seagull!! It seems drawn with such a sure hand.
